Data Recovery Sydney

Payam Data Recovery Sydney

Payam Data Recovery Sydney, at Level 11, 65 York Street, Sydney, NSW 2000, is a full service data recovery lab in the Sydney CBD, run by a company that has been recovering data since 1998. We recover data from faulty or damaged hard drives, SSDs, RAID and NAS units, Apple iPhones, MacBooks and iMacs, mobile phones, USB flash drives, memory cards, Microsoft Surface devices and all other brands of computers, phones and tablets. Our Sydney lab serves clients in Sydney and across NSW.

Every job except phones and tablets starts with a free assessment and a written quote, and no work is charged until you approve it. Phones and tablets are a fixed price with no assessment or quote: the work starts when you submit the job. They are no fix, no fee in about 99% of cases, and you see your files before you pay.

What Sydney Customers Bring Us

Every brand and every kind of device: a clicking hard drive from a Windows desktop, a Dell or HP laptop that will not boot, an external drive that was dropped, a RAID or NAS unit with failed disks, a Samsung or Google phone, a memory card from a camera, a USB stick that no longer mounts. Apple devices are a large part of the work too: iPhones that no longer turn on, MacBooks that will not power up or have had a drink spilled across the keyboard, and SSDs that have stopped being recognised. IT companies and computer shops across NSW refer their customers’ failed drives to our data recovery engineers.

Where Your Device Is Recovered

Most of the work is done here at York Street, and some specialist work goes to our main data recovery lab in Rhodes, NSW. You deal with the Sydney office throughout. Our own staff move devices between the two labs every day, never a courier, at no charge to you.

Visiting the Sydney Office

We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. You can walk in without an appointment to drop off a device. If you would like to speak with a data recovery engineer, or you are collecting a device that is already with us, please phone 1300 444 800 to book a time first so nobody is kept waiting.

Our Data Recovery Engineer and Sydney Office Manager leads a small, specialised team at York Street, backed by the data recovery engineers at our main lab in Rhodes, NSW.

Getting here. 65 York Street is about halfway between Wynyard and Town Hall stations, a few minutes’ walk from either, and York Street is well served by buses. There is no free street parking outside the building, only loading zones for delivery vehicles. The two closest car parks are Wilson Parking at 24 York Street, the easiest to use, and the car park at 71 York Street, which is very tight and staffed by valet attendants, so it suits small cars only. Most city car parks charge a modest rate for the first 30 minutes, which is enough time to meet us, hand over your device and ask your questions. If you would rather not pay for parking, have a family member or friend drive you and pick you up afterwards.

Who Comes to the Sydney Office

Customers within about ten kilometres of the CBD usually drop in: Haymarket, The Rocks, Barangaroo, Pyrmont, Ultimo, Chippendale, Redfern, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, Paddington, Glebe, Balmain, Newtown, North Sydney, Kirribilli, Neutral Bay and Mosman. Customers from the rest of Sydney and regional NSW usually post or courier their device to this office, and many of them never need to visit. Customers in Canberra and the ACT post their device to us too: see data recovery for Canberra and the ACT.

Sending Your Device From Anywhere in NSW

Most of our customers post or courier their device to us, and it is safe as long as it is packed well. Put the device in a cardboard box with plenty of bubble wrap on every side, and choose a postal or courier service with tracking, signature on delivery and insurance, and keep the photo proof of delivery. Submit a new job first to get a job number and the address label to include in the box. Recovered data comes back to you on a new external drive or SSD, with free return delivery within Australia on every completed job. If you don’t want to go ahead, there’s no charge. You can pick it up from our office, organise your own courier to collect it, or pay $20 for return delivery, which covers shipping and handling to return it to you by Australia Post.

International customers are always welcome, and the easiest way to reach us from overseas is by email at help@payam.com.au.

Questions Sydney Customers Ask

Can I walk in without an appointment? Yes, to drop off a device. If you want to speak with a data recovery engineer, or you are collecting a device that is already with us, please phone 1300 444 800 to book a time first.

How much does data recovery cost in Sydney? The assessment is free and you get a written quote before any work begins. Economy service for most hard drives, SSDs, USB flash drives and memory cards is usually between $375 and $1,750, and more for special cases such as damaged heads on very large drives; RAID and NAS jobs usually cost from about $800 to about $5,000, and complex multi-drive cases are quoted individually. Phones and tablets are a fixed price. They are no fix, no fee in about 99% of cases, and you see your files before you pay. Full prices by device are on our data recovery cost page.

How long does it take? Economy service is typically 1 to 3 weeks. Priority and Emergency services bring that down to a few days, and the Emergency service is our fastest. We offer fast service in Sydney, Rhodes NSW, Melbourne and Brisbane, and devices delivered to our Perth or Adelaide offices go to our lab in Rhodes, NSW the same day, each afternoon, by overnight courier at no cost to you. We never promise a same-day start, because the fastest safe method depends on the fault. The quote tells you the timeframe for your job.

Do I need to bring cables, the charger or the whole computer? Bring only the device you want the data recovered from: the bare hard drive or SSD, or the laptop, phone or tablet itself, without chargers, cables, bags or protective cases. If you would like the recovered files saved to your own external drive or SSD, bring that with it.

Can you tell me what is on the drive before I approve the quote? No. Until the recovery is done nobody can see the files. After the recovery we send you a file list or a video preview so you can check what came back before you pay.

I forgot my iPhone passcode. Can you get my photos? No, and neither can anyone else. Apple’s encryption makes a locked iPhone unrecoverable without the passcode. If the phone is damaged and you know the passcode, that is a different situation and we can usually help.

I am in North Sydney or Parramatta. Do I have to come in? You are welcome to. York Street is a real office with real staff, and many customers prefer to hand over the device in person and meet the people who will work on it. If a visit is not practical, pack the device well and send it by post or courier with the job form; the recovered data is delivered back to you free of charge.
