Short answer

No. The free assessment and quote diagnoses the symptoms and the fault without opening the drive, so your warranty is not affected. We only open a drive after you approve the quote and give permission, and then we attach a sticker. Manufacturers are now more flexible with warranties, and this generally does not void it unless the manufacturer finds a different reason, such as physical damage.

Do you open hard drives when providing a free quote or diagnostics, as it will void my warranty?

No, we do not.

As part of the free assessment and quote, we can diagnose the symptoms and the fault without physically opening the drive.

Our Class 100 clean room staff members are highly compensated and very busy.

We do not perform internal inspections as part of a free assessment.

We can diagnose bad read/write heads easily through alternative methods.

No, we will not void your warranty.

We give you a free assessment and written quote first, and we open the drive only after you approve the quote.

Your drive is not opened or altered before that point.

You will know the price before any work begins.

We will not tamper with your drive without your explicit permission.

Furthermore, we have observed that hard drive manufacturers are now more flexible with warranties compared to the past.

As a well-known company, they generally do not invalidate the warranty if the drive has been handled by us.

We affix a sticker to the drives we open after you approve the quote and grant us permission to open it. This generally does not void the warranty unless the manufacturer states it is void for a different reason, such as physical damage from dropping the drive, which would not be covered under warranty. If your drive is still under warranty, please get written approval from the manufacturer or retailer before you send it to us.
