Short answer

We recover your data rather than repair the drive, because a repaired drive can fail again within minutes or hours. We repair what is needed to read it and copy your files to a new drive. In special cases, such as a factory machine or CCTV system that needs an exact clone with a matching model and serial number, we may be able to provide a working drive or a clone copy.

Do you repair hard drives?

Yes, we do.

However, we do not offer that as a service because hard drives cannot be repaired and reused in a reliable way. The reason is analogous to a severely damaged car after an accident; one cannot expect it to drive like new again. It will never truly be the same, exhibiting squeaks and bumps, and lacking its original smoothness. The same principle applies to hard drives.

Generally, our process involves repairing the drive and then copying the data onto a brand new, functional hard drive. New drives are considerably more affordable, reliable, and faster, and they offer significantly longer longevity. Attempting to repair the original drive and return it to you would be unreliable, as it could fail again within minutes. Hard drives are exceptionally fragile. If internal damage has occurred, the drive will almost certainly fail again within minutes or hours of its return. We aim to prevent the inconvenience of a refund request and to ensure you do not waste money on a solution that quickly ceases to function.

Consequently, our service is data recovery, not repair. We can, however, make exceptions for certain simple issues. For instance, if you have a damaged PCB or circuit board and the internal components of the hard drive are intact, and you require a special computer, such as one used in a factory or a CCTV system, that necessitates a perfect clone with a matching model and serial number for proper operation, we can assist. This is crucial when a business cannot operate or a machine fails without such a clone. In these specific cases, we may be able to restore functionality and provide you with a working drive or a clone copy. We can even modify the model and serial numbers of other drives to match your faulty one in such specialized scenarios, particularly for devices like factory equipment that require a precise sector-by-sector clone derived from a specific model and serial number for software licensing purposes.

Nevertheless, as a general rule, please request data recovery rather than repair. If a clone copy is required, we can provide that service.
