FAQ: Would it be cheaper if I only want part of the recovered data?

Short answer

No. Our charges are based on time, and most of the cost is the labour of repairing the device so the data can be read. Copying less data does not reduce that effort much, although it can make delivery faster. We recommend giving you all the data in case you need more later, and you can delete what you do not want.

Would it be more economical if only a portion of the data were to be recovered?

No, our charges are based on the time expended, and the predominant portion of the quoted cost is attributed to our labor. This covers our operational overheads, including staff wages, rent, and equipment. It also accounts for the hours a staff member dedicates to your task, rather than another client’s.

Once the fault has been rectified, for instance if an SSD or mobile phone is defunct, the challenging aspect is to revive the device for repair. Following this, the backup procedure is not time-consuming. We connect the device, execute software, perform copy-paste operations, run data recovery tools, and allow the process to complete autonomously. For example, if copying takes two hours, instructing us to copy only half the data does not significantly reduce our time investment. The primary time and cost are associated with the initial repair methods or techniques employed to retrieve the data.

If, for any reason, you possess a substantial amount of data that you do not require, we can expedite the delivery process, as data transfer speeds will be quicker with less data. However, we consistently advise providing all data to you, in the event that your requirements change and you seek additional data in the future. This obviates the need for a return visit and additional charges. We provide everything at once, and you are at liberty to delete any unwanted data.
