Short answer

In most cases there is a good chance. The partition is likely corrupted from an unsafe eject, although other problems are possible. We make a read-only sector-by-sector clone, diagnose whether the fault is physical or logical, then recover your files from the clone onto a new disk, which we can supply or you can provide. Start with a free assessment and quote.

My external hard drive is now not accessible after my Mac froze and restarted. Can my data still be recovered from this? In most cases, there is a good chance of recovery. I suspect that the partition of the file system likely became corrupted due to the unsafely ejected disk, though other issues are possible.

We will conduct a thorough test for you. All our procedures are safe and read-only. We will create a sector-by-sector cloned copy of your disk. We will then diagnose whether there is any hard or physical fault with it, or if it is a logical or software corruption. If the latter is the case, we will use the clone, data recovery software, and tools to make a backup for you, transfer it to a new disk, and restore all your files. This is a routine procedure for us, and we are confident we can assist.

The initial step is to bring the drive to us for a complimentary assessment and quote. We will provide you with the price, should you be interested. The only additional requirement is a new external disk to which all the recovered files can be copied. We offer these for an additional fee, or you may provide your own.
