Short answer
Sometimes. Household or business policies may cover accidental damage, but they usually cover the replacement phone rather than the loss of data, so check with your insurer and explain that data recovery is separate from replacing the phone. If your insurer needs a written quote or a statement of how we recovered the data, we are happy to help.
Can I claim mobile phone data recovery on my insurance?
Yes, some household or business insurance policies may cover accidental damage, but they typically do not cover the loss of data. They usually cover the replacement of the physical phone, or associated costs such as obtaining a new SIM card, replacing accessories, and protective cases. It is quite rare for data recovery or data loss to be covered. Therefore, you should definitely check with your insurance company and inform them that the cost of data recovery is separate from the cost of phone replacement. You might be fortunate enough to have some form of coverage for this, especially if it is caused by accidental damage, such as being run over by a car or dropped in a toilet.
It does not hurt to inquire. However, do not provide false statements to your insurance company. We will not assist in providing false statements. If you have insurance coverage and they require a written quote or a written statement regarding how the damage occurred or how we recovered the data, we are happy to assist you with that; just let us know.
