The answer from Payam Toloo, Owner of Payam Data Recovery:
We no longer offer that service as it has been discontinued. The technology is now obsolete, and there was insufficient demand. Furthermore, the cost of maintaining the necessary software, tools, and support for various brands made it unviable.
I recommend exploring options on platforms such as eBay or Amazon, or conducting an online search for a Zip drive. It is crucial to ensure that the seller confirms the device has been tested and is fully functional. A USB-compatible model would be ideal; otherwise, older internal interfaces like SCSI or IDE may lack the necessary connections in most modern PCs.
Prioritise acquiring a USB Zip drive, and verify its type, for instance, “Zip120,” as variations exist that are not cross-compatible. Once acquired, it should be plug-and-play.
Certain legacy companies specialise in data conversion. A search for “Zip drive conversion companies in Melbourne” may reveal services, often provided by smaller, specialised businesses that also handle older media like VHS tapes. However, due to their scarcity, such services can be quite expensive. If you receive a quote, for example, for AUD $500, it may be worth comparing prices internationally. Services in other countries, such as the United States, might offer conversion for significantly less, perhaps $20 or $50, making overseas shipping a cost-effective alternative.
