"After going through 3 different technical support places who claimed all my data was unrecoverable I was lucky enough to be recommended to Payam Data Recovery.
After being shuffled around by other companies for over a month Payam recovered all my data in 4-5 days. Would always recommend others go to them first when dealing with difficult data recovery"

'Search Fee'
In some very rare cases we ask for a $150 'Search Fee' to be paid before we start work. These are hard disks which we estimate to have a very low chance of success or if the disk has been evaluated/examined or data recovery attempted prior to us receiving the hard disk.
This is a charge for our time and efforts as these cases take a lot more time. This fee is not refundable and must be paid before we begin work. We will inform you if you need to pay this fee, if you do not wish to proceed there is no obligation. |
Has somebody opened your hard disk drive up?
Oh oh! Big mistake! This should never be done unless it's in a class-100 clean room and by an experienced data recovery professional.
If somebody has taken the hard disk out of your laptop, computer or external enclosure that's not a problem.
But, If your hard disk drive's cover has been opened or any internal repair has been done. We do not accept any work of this kind.
If your data is critical and you would like a 2nd opinion, we charge $1000 to evaluate a opened hard disk. This is charged to cover our engineers time in cases which we deem to have an extremely low chance of success. |
Payment methods we accept:
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Dinners, EFTPOS, Paypal, Cash and Bank Cheque's.
Want to send your disk to us?
We recommend using a Courier service, Registered Post or Express Post Platinum.

"Final price was $250 which was excellent given they were in a position to probably charge at the higher end given my lack of options!! Work was completed and we had our HD backed-up within a couple of days - excellent given the economy option we chose. Very happy indeed, the wife is ecstatic to have our cherished photos & vids back and I would highly recommend to anyone sweating on where to take their HD for recovery."
Cheers and thanks again mate, as I said above, you guys could have ripped me off if you wanted to....but you didn't so will be recommending to anyone with a similar issue."

"I was most impressed — and grateful — for the friendly and efficient professional support I had throughout. That I am a Macintosh user made no difference. I had the feeling that my problem was really of interest. Certainly time and care and thought was expended with generosity. I was kept informed as to progress at every stage. A week later a further problem was explored with continuing efficiency (and no further cost).

LaCie Hard Disk Data Recovery
We are Authorised & Recommended by LaCie Australia to perform professional Data Recovery on LaCie hard drives without voiding your warranty. |

Faulty LaCie Hard Disk Drive?
We can help recover your data!

LaCie hard disk drives are one of the fastest, most reliable and best designed external hard disks available today in Australia. Like any brand of hard drive there is always a weak link, in some LaCie hard disk models the internal IDE or SATA hard drive (which is not manufactured by Lacie) inside of the LaCie enclosure can fail resulting in loss of access to your important files.
Normally we find LaCie uses Western Digital, Samsung, Maxtor or Seagate drives inside their hard drive enclosures. This disk can sometimes fail due to bad sectors, controller board problems, overheating, read/write head damage or a simple file system corruption.
We can recover data from the LaCie hard disks which are single drive units, 2 disk units and 4 disk units. Regardless of if it's using RAID-0, Spanning or any file system - we are the experts when it comes to recovering data from LaCie Disks.
We are recommended and Authorised by LaCie Australia as recognised data recovery provider for LaCie hard drives in Australia. We have recovered data from more LaCie hard drives than any other company in Australia.
We work with PC and MAC Formatted LaCie drives and can recover data from other file systems too.
Common
symptoms of 'Hardware Problems' with LaCie disks we can help with are:
- The Lacie hard drive is not detected by your computer at all.
- The Lacie hard drive is making a clicking or knocking sound
- The Lacie hard drive does not power on or spin at all.
- The Lacie hard drive has had a power surge or the wrong power supply was connected to the drive.
Other 'Software Problems' we can help with:
- Corrupted
partition
- Unable to see the disk or the files
- The disk won't mount on the desktop (if Mac formatted)
- Accidental
Deletion of Data
- The computer gets a blue screen of death error screen
- The computer keeps restarting/rebooting
- Accidental
reformatting of partitions
- Hard
disk is unable to be accessed
- Virus
Problems
- Inaccessible
drives and partitions
- Unable
to boot computer
- The disk is seen in windows but asking to be formatted
- Unable to access drive in windows with an error message
|
Note: LaCie RAID-0 and RAID-5 Disks may attract a different cost. We will examine the disk and confirm the cost by giving you a free quote before we begin work.
For individual hard disk drives, we offer an obligation free evaluation and quote within 24 hours. We will professionally test your disk, determine what kind of problem it has and the type of data recovery service needed. At this stage we will give you a quote and seek your approval before you are charged anything.
Each type of hard disk problem takes our staff a different amount of time to recover data from. Some simple cases take us 1-2 hours and some very badly damaged disks may take up to 40-50 hours of our time and cost us hundreds of dollars in spare parts.
The cost can vary from $250 to $2400. We always give an honest evaluation and quote and the decision is yours to proceed or not. We are proud to offer a professional data recovery service provided by experienced data recovery professionals. We don't claim to be the cheapest data recovery company in the world, how often is the cheapest also the best of any service? We offer low, affordable prices and are proud to be the best data recovery company in Australia! We are confident that we have the technology, specialised tools and experience to provide you with your very best hope of getting your data back!
Most recoveries we perform are on a "No Fix, No Fee" basis. We only charge you the prices below only if we can successfully recover your data. If the data cannot be recovered for some reason and you are not happy with the result, there is no charge to you at all. We offer this as we are generally successfully in over 90% of cases.
Once the data has been recovered we will inform you of the results then we will email you a list of the files saved or you can test the files at our office before you agree to pay for the recovery. Once the recovery is completed we expect you to pay for the completed recovery within 14 days.
"Through your company this all my files were able to be successfully retrieved. I was particularly grateful for the patience you demonstrated in taking me through the steps on how to access the information to be transferred to my new computer. I had occasion to call you when did not know how to access and copy certain files and you took the time to take me through each step.
This level of service was in such contrast to a previous experience with another company that I was I feel I must record my gratitude"

$2400 - Complex Hardware Recovery (Standard Service, No Economy Service Available)
This $2400 service is comprised of a $450 fee to attempt this recovery then $1950 if the recovery is successful. This $450 fee covers our engineers time for work in our clean room lab and cost of spare parts and shipping for these parts needed for this kind of recovery. If the recovery is unsuccessful, you do not pay the $1950 fee.
Examples of hard disks requiring this service: A dropped hard disk now making clicking/knocking sounds Or a hard disk with damaged heads Or a disk with a seized spindle motor , making a faint buzzing sound and not spinning.
|
There are 4 exceptions to our 'No Fix, No Fee' policy.
Case 1.
We charge a $150 Search Fee in some rare cases which we deem to have a very low chance of success to cover our engineers time to attempt this recovery.
Examples of such cases are: 1) A file has been deleted and has potentially been overwritten. 2) A hard disk has been reformatted and windows has been re-installed and you need some of the data back before the formatting was done. Our staff will inform you if a search fee of $150 is applicable in your case. If so - you do not have to proceed, we will always ask your approval before we begin work. This fee is not refundable once paid, it covers our time to try to help you with the expectation of a low chance of success in this particular cases. In over 70% of cases of deleted files or formatted disks we are still able to recover important data needed.
Case 2.
Our Complex Hardware Recovery process fee is charged in 2 parts. We ask for an initial payment of $450 up-front before the actual clean room work begins. This fee covers our engineers time in attempting to recover data from a badly damaged hard disk with a physical/mechanical fault (e.g damaged heads).
This process requires our company searching for an identical hard disk to use for spare parts. We need to locate this disk, purchase it (if we don't have it already) and ship it to our office usually from overseas by Fedex couriers. As any data recovery company will tell you, this is often the most time consuming part of the data recovery process, finding the 'donor drive'. We go to considerable effort to recover your data ASAP and in many cases due to damage to the disk in some cases no data can be recovered. For example in cases where the platter is scratched.
This fee is charged so that as a business, we do not loose money by spending many hours of our engineers time, company resources and hundreds of dollars on spare parts in an attempt to help you by recovering your data. In some cases no data can be recovered due to severe damage and there may not be any way to recover your data. Our business should not incur a loss trying to help you. This is why this fee is being charged.
This fee is not refundable once paid regardless of the outcome. In over 85% of cases we are able to recover all data from disks with internal faults or damage.
Case 3.
All NAS (Network Attached Storage) external hard disk drives incur a $150 'Search Fee' to be paid up-front. NAS devices often use unique or customised file systems based on Linux. Sometimes we need to clone your disk to another disk then convert or modify the file system in addition to our standard data recovery methods in order to access the data. These networked or NAS drives take more our time. We charge this $150 fee up-front to attempt the recovery due to the additional time needed to perform a successful recover.
This fee is not refundable once paid regardless of the outcome. In over 85% of cases we are able to recover all data from network enabled hard disks .
Case 4.
If your hard disk requires our complex hardware recovery procedure and your disk has been opened up (i.e the screws have been removed and the cover opened to examine the disk platter or heads) by anybody we charge a $1000 fee up-front to attempt the data recovery work. Usually in cases where a hard disk has been opened up then brought to us, from experience the chances of success are about 15% compared to a success rate of over 85% if we get the disk 1st before it has been tampered with.
We charge this fee to cover our engineers time on our clean room and cost of spare parts that need to be purchased in order to attempt to recover your data based on a low chance of success. If your data is recovered this fee of $1000 is taken off the total price of the recovery. For example in a case of a disk which is making loud clicking sounds due to damaged heads. If your local computer shop opened the disk then told you they cannot recover your data for you. We charge you $1000 up front to attempt the recovery then if the recovery is successful you pay an additional $1400 inc GST (instead of the normal $2400 we charge).
We prefer not to work on any opened hard disks at all, but if you seek our professional services for a 2nd opinion we will do everything possible to recover all of your data for you if possible.
Note: Our Economy Option cannot be used with any other discounts, coupons or other offers. It is already 50% discounted.
We also offer a High Priority Service Option - For $150 we will put your data recovery request at the top of our waiting list, You skip the wait and we begin work immediately. For Complex Hardware Recoveries this High Priority service is an additional $500 . If you are in a hurry - please ask our staff for this option when you bring your disk to us. This high-priority service option is not refundable and is a fee for our time if you would like special attention given to your request and special treatment to provide you with the fastest possible service.
Interest Free Finance Available!

12 month Interest Free Installment Payment Plan option for our $700, $900 and $3400 Data Recovery Services if required.

Time Needed to recover your data |
These are average turnaround times for our Priority Service Only. Our Economy Service option costs less but takes an average of 3 to 4 times longer.
- 1 Days for Basic Software Data Recovery.
- Example of problem: The hard disk is working with no physical faults or malfunction but you cannot access the files. In these cases the partition or file system is not damaged in anyway. Usually you simply cannot start your computer or load windows or any other operating system.
- 1-2 Days for Advanced Software Data Recovery.
- Example of problem: Hard disk detected in BIOS and by operating system but you cannot see the files & folders due to damage to the partition, file system. Also if files have been deleted or a hard disk has been reformatted accidentally.
- 5-10 Days for Bad Sector Data Recovery.
Example of problem: Hard disks with minor read/write head problems or reporting bad sectors. These disks normally work but very slowly.
- 2-3 Days For Firmware Problems.
Example of problem: Hard disk is detected in BIOS with a SMART status error, incorrect model number, capacity/size, incorrect disk ID or reporting 'primary disk failure, press F1 to resume'.
- 5-10 Days for Electronic Problems (Dependent on availability of spare parts).
Example of problem: A power surge caused damage to the Printed Circuit Board. Normally 1 chip will be damaged or burnt.
- 2 to 4 weeks for Complex Hardware Problems on average. (Dependent on availability of spare parts). This is the most complex and serious of all hard disk problems.
Example of problem: clicking hard disks, damaged heads, seized spindle motor, head crash or other internal hardware faults requiring your hard disk to go into our class-100 clean room for 'hard disk surgery'. Note: If a donor drive to use for spare parts is hard to locate or your hard disk has other problems this process can take longer. 2-4 weeks is a realistic timeframe based on the average.
In some cases of severe hard disk damage or difficulty to locate spare parts, the time needed may be extended. Even though we need to spend more time trying to help you we do not charge any extra for our time. We offer a fixed price and stick to it.
- Economy Service - If you want your data back but at the lowest possible price and you are not in a hurry, this is the cheapest data recovery option we offer. You will find our prices are probably the cheapest in Australia!
Ideal when time is not critical but data is of sentimental value. This service takes the longest amount of time but is the cheapest option. This service normally takes 3 or 4 times longer than our Priority service but produces exactly the same result.
- Priority service- Our most popular service. We recover your data as quickly as possible during our standard business hours. We keep you up to date with progress reports more often and recover your data as quickly as possible.

Testimonials from some of our previous customers with
LaCie hard disk problems:
Recently a LaCie drive that contained valuable office data that couldn't be recovered by our experienced IT contact in Brisbane was sent to Payam Data Recovery.
Within a day of Payam receiving the drive, they contacted me with exciting news that all the data could be recovered. As you can imagine, it was a great relief to hear that our data could be recovered after suffering for months without this data.
Payam is fast and professional! We cannot thank Payam enough for their help in recovering this data.

After six months intensive work cutting and adding visual effects to a film in Final Cut Pro, with the premiere screening less than a week away, I had one more effects shot to finish before outputting to DVD. Four hours of footage, amounting to over 200GB of disk space, was stored on my trusty Lacie external drive -- too much to back up without the expense of buying another drive. What false economy this turned out to be!
Suddenly up came a window telling me the drive was no longer readable by my computer. Running disk repair was instantly useless. I tried restarting and reopening everything. Still no recognition. It was a Saturday night, and the screening was to be on Wednesday. I was rooted.
I got no sleep that night. The word 'disaster' echoed in my head. I felt so guilty. I could end my career. I would be letting scores of people down.
Monday at 830 I called my Mac repair store and rushed in the dead Lacie.
Within five minutes they knew they could do nothing. But they handed me Payam's website and phone number.
It was like calling a hospital emergency department when I spoke to Payam himself. Calmly he put my mind at ease, making no unrealistic promises but giving me just enough hope and confidence to keep me breathing. This man clearly knew his stuff. In went the injured drive, and for the next two days I waited in suspense. Like a newly pregnant woman not yet sure of my baby's health, I told the producers of my film nothing. They'd only need to know in the event of a disaster. I dared not even think about it.
Of course I couldn't believe my ears when Payam from Payam called and told me my data had been retrieved with 100% success. My fingers are shaking as I type even recalling it. I felt so grateful. The relief was indescribable.
The disk itself was of course damaged beyond repair, but I took the cost of its replacement as getting off lightly.
The film met its deadline and was rapturously received and all's well that ends well. But it could have been so different! My deepest thanks to Payam. I hope I never have to call upon them again, but if I have another crash, their number's backed up on at least 3 CDs!

When our Lacie hard drive started smoking, we knew we were in trouble! Lacie suggested Payam Data Recovery as a company who may be able to help us rescue the important information the hard drive held.
Payam himself explained clearly our options, and kept us updated throughout the process. All of our data was successfully recovered, so obviously we were very relieved!
I would recommend Payam Data Recovery to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

My eldest son "did the right thing" and bought two (2) USB HDD on which to back up his laptop, and were both subsequently used as transportable HDD's whilst travelling around Europe and on training locations for the UK military (Cyprus, Macedonia, Germany etc) instead of carrying his laptop with him.
These HDD's were probably not treated with the best of respect they deserved (temperatures in mid 40's deg C), and to my son's horror they both failed when he eventually connected to his laptop.
Being based in London, my son decided to try and find a data recovery company here in Sydney whilst on a week's home leave in August 07.
One drive would display the message "not accessible", whilst the other caused the USB port to overload and shutdown.
My son obtained the details of Payam, I believe, after tracing the supplier of Lacie HDD's here in Sydney. This in itself is a good reputation advertisement, and as such my son delivered the "not accessible" HDD to Payam, of Payam Data Recovery Pty Ltd.
The service delivered by Payam and the company was "spot on".
Regular updated information, attention to detail, the majority of data (probably 99%?) was recovered, one or 20 randomly picked files we tested was corrupt but luckily there was a backup copy file and this was ok in 40Gb of recovered data.........everything was as one would, and should expect, but unfortunately is very much lacking with many companies nowadays.
My son was extremely pleased with the results, (although now back in London) and this has lifted a great weight from his shoulders, so as to speak.
The icing on the cake was that Payam, although the cost to do this data recovery for my son was quoted, actually reduced the price on the final invoice. What more can you want?
Phill Ward |
My Lacie hard drive was formatted and consequently meant I lost 220GB of itunes music. I took it to a Mac shop, the problem was confirmed and was warned the data was unlikely to be retrieved. I contacted Lacie and they recommended Payam as a reputable data recovery company and one which would ensure warranty would not be affected.
I took the hard drive to Payam and within two days the data was recovered, all of it. They constantly kept me updated with progress and even after the drive was returned, called to
ensure I was satisfied.
I was blown away with their professional, fast and efficient service and would recommend them to anybody.

The LaCie external USB drive we had contained about 300 GB of irreplaceable voice recordings. We thought that we had a copy of them on some tapes, but when the LaCie drive became inaccessible we went to restore them we found that the tapes were not working properly, and we could not recover the data from them.
The voice recordings contained important insurance verbal contracts and so it was vital to be able to recover them.
The drive also had the only copy of the database which linked all the voice recordings thousands of customer details. We did not realise the 500Gb LaCie drive was actually a span of two 250 GB drives, but Payam was able to successfully recover all of the data and transfer it on to a new drive.
We greatly appreciate their expertise in being able to achieve this!
Brendan King |
My LaCie 500GB drive failed and I knew that I had a lot of files that were going to be required by clients in the future. A work colleague and friend of mine found Payam Data Recovery on the internet and so I called them to see if they could recover the files.
I was very pleasantly surprised that they managed to retrieve the files in good order AND I only had to wait a couple of days.
About 5% of the files (image files) are corrupt, however, the other 95% are in great condition. I am very grateful every time a client asks me for a file and I am able to access it again from the drive.
Thank you Payam.
Veronica Gillmer |
I have a LACIE external drive as a back up to my laptop. Naturally my laptop is continually being disconnected from the drive most times just by unplugging... a big no no with XP.
In any event it corrupted the directory and made the disc appear as a new disc with no data and XP asked if I'd like to reformat it... there I was, just one click away from disaster.
I was pretty sure the data was there and I was aware of data recovery software but it was critical data, not stuff I could afford ANY risks with so I went looking for a company that specialised in data recovery and found PAYAM in Melbourne.
They recovered it all, pretty well in a 24 hour turn around... best peace of mind money I have spent in a long while.
Tim McMahon |
I have very high praise for the services Payam Data Recovery gave my LaCie 500Gb drive. My drive became unreadable by my Mac and it contained nearly 300Gb of data. As is always the case there were some files not backed up.
I received a quote from a city 'Disk Repair Service' and it seemed high. Payam data gave me a second much more reasonable quote. I was not in an urgent need for the data and preferred to give Payam enough time to do a good job and they did by recovering all the data and loading it onto a Terabyte Disk for me to transfer back onto my system at my leisure.
They also repaired the 500Gb Disk directory. I was given updates on the progress of the recovery and I was completely satisfied with the result and service at an affordable price.
Thankyou Payam Data Recovery.
